CDU is easy to install. Before installing, however, make sure that you have turned any virus protection software off, as it sometimes interferes with the installation process.
1. Double-click on the CDU Installer icon.
2. The dialog box that appears tells you on which volume it plans to install CDU. (A volume is a hard disk drive or a partition on such a drive.) The default is your boot volume. If this is the right one, click Install. If it is not the right volume, click on the pop-up menu where the volume name appears and drag to select the correct name. (If you see a dimmed name, either there is not enough room on it to install CDU, or System 7 has not been installed on that disk). Click Install.
3. Fill in the personalization dialog box. This information can be displayed as a startup screen or for security purposes, so be sure to fill it in accurately and completely. Click OK.
CDU is now installed. You do not have to adjust any settings to begin using CDU right away. (Note: the default settings turn on the Energy Star portion of CDU only.) Restart now and the default settings immediately go into effect. Alternatively, you can click on the button that allows you to adjust the CDU settings before restarting.
CDU requires a Macintosh (not PowerBook or Portable) running System 7 or later. PowerBook users should install Connectix PowerBook Utilities instead.
Removing CDU
If you want to remove CDU, use the CDU Installer. Double-click the CDU Installer icon and click the Remove button.
